Writer Archana Thapa brings out Agnigarbha, her first novel

Kathmandu: Dr Archana Thapa, writer and activist, made public Agnigarbha, her first novel, on Saturday. The book was jointly launched by writer Thapa, her mother Anjana Sijapati Thapa, critic Mahesh Paudyal, and media personality and gender theory scholar Aarti Chataut at a program organized at Shilpi theater.

Speaking on the occasion Paudyal said ‘Agnigarbha’ raises issue of gender equality from a new angle by bringing ‘kitchen politics’ associated with kitchen work. Arati Chataut interpreted ‘Agnigarbha’ as a book that raises questions on the gender discrimination and patriarchal ideology. Dr Thapa said the novel is about struggle of women for identity and recognition. Dr Thapa is a famed writer, critic and activist based in Kathmandu.
