Cross-border movement increases with the opening of Tinkar transit point

Darchula: The cross-border movement of traders has increased with the opening of the Tinkar transit point on the Nepal-China border in the Darchula district. 

Twenty-seven businessmen, including 15 from Chhangru and 12 from Tinkar of Byas Rural Municipality-1 set out for the Tibet Autonomous Region of China for business purposes on Wednesday, said Yagya Raj Joshi, the Chief District Officer.

According to him, 187 traders from the district have taken permits from the District Administration Office for entry through the transit point to travel to China.

The Tinkar border check post which was closed since the COVID pandemic period has been recently opened. 

Some other local traders and Chinese citizens have carried out trade in local produce and daily consumer goods at the transit, it is said.
