The DMN News goes live

Kathmandu: Democracy Media Network unveiled The DMN News, an English-language digital newspaper, in Kathmandu on Friday.

The DMN News is a new initiative by a group of journalists with experience of working in various news organizations.

Mahabir Paudyal is editor of The DMN News.

“We are a collective of passionate journalists and storytellers, both seasoned veterans and budding talents, united in our mission to set a new benchmark in an industry grappling with multiple crises,” said Siromani Dhungana, chairperson at Democracy Media Network.

“Our mission transcends mere information dissemination. We aim to fortify democracy, ensure accountability and transparency, promote good governance, champion free and fair media, and combat the scourge of misinformation,” he said, adding that The DMN News firmly believes in the transformative power of journalism to catalyze positive change, and we are resolute in our commitment to being a catalyst for that change.

The DMN News has established partnerships with local and provincial level media outlets to join forces with the local story and truth-tellers who know the local issues above easily available stereotypes and cheaply marketed false myths.

Together, we have started a mission to dig into the issues that impact your daily life and shed light on why you should care about them, Dhungana said.
