Seven, including a minor, arrested in connection with police constable murder

Kathmandu: Police have arrested seven individuals for their alleged involvement in the murder of a police constable in Manamaiju, Tarkeshwar Municipality-9, Kathmandu.

Police constable Yuvraj Ghimire, who was posted at Durbarmarg Traffic Police, was found dead in a two-story under-construction building in Manamaiju on Friday. The arrested individuals were presented during a press conference in Kathmandu.

Those arrested are Sachin Pariyar from Changunarayan Municipality-1 in Bhaktapur, Anjali Shrestha, 18, from Dupcheswar Rural Municipality in Nuwakot, Bipna, 21, from Andhikhola Rural Municipality-3 in Syangja, Basundhara Karki Basanti, Nunmaya Karki, 56, from Andhikhola. Similarly, 21-year-old Buddh Lama Tamang from Tani Rural Municipality-4 in Nuwakot, 30-year-old Amrit Tamang from Indrawati Rural Municipality-1 in Sindhupalchok, and a 13-year-old minor were also arrested in connection with the murder.

“Police had to fire in the air to take those arrested under control,” according to Senior Superintendent Basanta Rathaur, chief of Kathmandu Police.

On Friday, Ghimire, with his uniform and shoes burned and discarded nearby, was found dead. Ghimire was last seen leaving his duty on Thursday and did not return to his office.
