Search underway to locate drowned passengers

Chitwan: The search for passengers of two buses that fell into the Trishuli River at Simaltal along the Narayangadh-Muglin roadway has resumed from Saturday morning. 

Different teams from the Nepali Army, the Nepal Police, and the Armed Police including deep divers are at the incident site to resume the search.

The search operation was stopped on Friday evening as it was not possible to work during the night with high water current coupled with muddy water in the dark, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Bheshraj Rijal of District Police Office Chitwan.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Indradesh Yadav said the search operation started from 8:00 am. 

All possible locations will be searched and we will put all our best efforts into search and rescue, he said.

Two passenger buses including one heading to Gaur from Kathmandu (03-001 Kha. 2495) and another going to Kathmandu from Birgunj (03-006 Kha. 1516) were swept away by landslides into the Trishuli River on Friday morning at Simaltal of Bharatpur Metropolis-29.

The bus headed to Gaur was carrying 27 passengers while 24 people were on the bus going to Kathmandu from Birgunj. Among them, three people have survived miraculously by swimming out of the flooded river.
