Scholars stress upholding democratic and constitutional values in Nepal

Biratnagar: Scholars have outlined the importance of upholding democratic and constitutional values in Nepal, stating that constitutional stability is the foundation for a strong and successful democracy. Prof Dr Rajeev Ranjan, Faculty of Law at Amity University, Patna, said that Nepali youths have every right to protest, but such expressions must remain constitutional and democratic. “Constitutional stability will help the state move forward on a strong democratic pitch,” he said while addressing a program organized by Manmohan Technical University (MTU), Biratnagar.

Speaking on the occasion, Jivesh Jha, faculty member at MTU, opined that constitutional instability has often led to undemocratic practices in the country.  Gobinda Niraula highlighted the role of youths in nation-building, stating that standing firmly with the constitution is essential for leading the nation in the right direction.

Dr Ranjan also urged Nepali youths to strive for academic excellence, develop a deep sense of patriotism, and remain committed to the state. “We must prepare our youths for the nation. They should study, grow, and work for the country. Nation should always come first. The motherland is everything, and this feeling must be nurtured among the youths,” he said.

Koshraj Neupane, Principal of Manmohan Technical University (MTU), stressed the need to strengthen federalism and promote inclusive democracy to ensure sustainable democratic governance in Nepal. On the occasion, Amity University, Patna, and Manmohan Technical University, Biratnagar, also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a step towards academic collaboration and institutional partnership.
