Sangita Shrestha ‘Swechcha’ appointed chair of the International Association of Art and Culture for Peace

London: Writer and communications professional Dr Sangita Shrestha ‘Swechcha’has been appointed Chair of the International Association of Art and Culture for Peace (IAACP).

The IAACP, operating under the umbrella of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), is a global network committed to promoting peace and unity through various forms of artistic expression, including music, dance, fine arts, film, and literature.

In her new role, Dr Shrestha will lead an international community of artists, cultural leaders, and visionaries to advance the mission of the IAACP, fostering collaboration and cultural exchange to promote global peace.

Commenting on the appointment, Robin Marsh, secretary general of Universal Peace Federation – UK, stated, “We are thrilled to have someone of her calibre and vision leading this important initiative, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact her leadership will have in the coming year.”

Dr Shrestha was also honored with the ‘Ambassador for Peace Award’ in December 2023 by the Universal Peace Federation, in recognition of her significant contributions to peace-building and international development. The award reflects her dedication to creating a more peaceful and sustainable world.

“I am deeply honoured to take on this role and continue working toward a future where art, literature and culture serve as essential tools for peacebuilding and fostering mutual understanding,” said Dr. Shrestha. “I am thankful to Universal Peace Federation – UK for this opportunity. I look forward to collaborating with the talented members of the IAACP and UPF to achieve our shared goals.”
