Kathmandu: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Senior Vice-chairman Rabindra Mishra was released on Friday following the Supreme Court’s intervention in the case that smacks of political vendetta against the supporters of monarchy restoration.
Mishra, a former BBC journalist and an anti-corruption campaigner, is ardent advocate of restoration of monarchy in Nepal.
The Supreme Court on Friday ordered his release with a provision to summon him again, if needed.
After Mishra’s judicial custody was extended a number of times, Sarika Karki, his wife, had moved the apex court with a habeas corpus petition on May 13, claiming that police had unlawfully detained her husband.
