Prime Minister ‘Prachanda’ to participate in Modi’s swearing-in  

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, who is set to be appointed the Indian Prime Minister for the third time, on Sunday. 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is finalizing the delegates traveling with the prime minister to witness Modi’s swearing-in.

Modi tendered his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday ahead of his oath ceremony. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), secured 293 seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation to extend best wishes for the successful completion of the Lok Sabha elections following the unveiling of the poll results, which were held in seven phases. 

On this occasion, the two leaders briefly discussed matters concerning the mutual benefits and common interests of both countries, according to the Kathmandu-based Indian Embassy.

PM Dahal expressed his readiness to work in partnership and collaboration with the newly-formed Indian government to further deepen Nepal-India relations. PM Modi also expressed his happiness in having a conversation with his Nepali counterpart.

“I am very happy to talk to Prime Minister Prachanda. I thanked him for his warm wishes. Emphasizing our shared commitment to strengthen the deep and multifaceted partnership between India and Nepal, we agreed to maintain a positive momentum in our relations,” the Indian Embassy quoted PM Modi as saying.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 293 seats, while Prime Minister Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 240 seats alone.
