Pradip Yadav appointed as health minister

Kathmandu: Pradip Yadav, the deputy general secretary of the newly-formed Janta Samajwadi Party, the new chief of the Ministry of Health and Population. 

President Ram Chandra Paudel on Monday administered oath of office and secrecy to Yadav upon recommendation of the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

The development comes after Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav resigned from the post. Yadav-led Janta Samajwadi Party Nepal has also withdrawn its support to the government.

Last week, a group of leaders led by Ashok Rai, including six lawmakers, split from the Upendra Yadav-led Janta Samajwadi Party Nepal to form the Janata Samajwadi Party. Alongside Rai, Pradeep Yadav, Nawal Kishor Sah, Birendra Mahato, Ranju Jha Thakur, Hasina Khan, and Sushila Shrestha left JSP Nepal.
