Nepal’s Finance Minister calls on diaspora communities to join development campaign

Washington, D.C.: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel has urged the Nepali diaspora to support the government’s efforts in developing the country. He emphasized that the coalition government formed by the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress aims to ensure political stability and advance development initiatives.

While attending the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Minister Paudel encouraged the diaspora to contribute to their homeland’s progress through investment. The interaction was hosted by the Nepali Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Minister Paudel stated that the current government is dedicated to fulfilling the people’s aspirations and promoting prosperity. He highlighted the ample investment opportunities in sectors such as energy, tourism, and information technology, urging attendees to leverage the skills, capital, and knowledge they have acquired abroad.

He also assured participants that the government prioritizes facilitating investors. In response to queries, he encouraged them to invest confidently, citing a favorable investment environment in Nepal that promises returns.

Chandra Prasad Dhakal, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), echoed the need for increased capital for the economic and social development of Nepal, emphasizing the importance of support from non-resident Nepalis.

During the event, participants raised questions regarding Nepal’s tax system, investment climate, and the performance of staff and technology, among other topics.
