Nepal enter final of CAVA Women’s Volleyball

Kathmandu: The Nepal national women’s volleyball team defeated Iran in straight sets in the semifinal of the CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League on Tuesday, setting up a blockbuster final against the defending champions, India.

Nepal will play against India, who defeated Sri Lanka in straight sets in the other semifinal clash, at the National Sports Council’s covered hall in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu, on Wednesday.

The Nepali side triumphed over Iran with scores of 25-21, 28-26, and 25-20. Earlier in the group stage match, Nepal were defeated by Iran 3-2.

Meanwhile, Nepal and India, who are set to meet in the final on Wednesday, previously faced each other in the group stage. In that match, Nepal made history by defeating their southern neighbor for the first time in women’s volleyball.
