Minister Khadka for renewable energy advancement

Kathmandu: In a strong endorsement of renewable energy, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, announced the government’s commitment to support the sector during the 28th anniversary celebration of the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre today.

Minister Khadka urged relevant agencies, including the Centre, to take an active role in promoting renewable energy initiatives. He emphasized the urgency of passing the upcoming renewable energy bill, which he plans to prioritize in the next parliamentary session, to facilitate the sector’s growth.

Highlighting the Centre’s critical role, Khadka reiterated the government’s ambitious target of generating 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035.

The minister also recognized outstanding contributions to renewable energy by honoring various individuals and organizations during the event.

Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Purna Bahadur Tamang, praised the Centre’s efforts in providing electricity to remote areas through renewable energy solutions.

Executive Director of the Centre, Nabaraj Dhakal, reported significant achievements, including the construction of 40,253 kilowatts in micro and small-scale hydropower projects and the provision of renewable energy services to 3.65 million households across the nation.

In a spirit of community service, center employees also participated in a blood donation drive to commemorate the anniversary.
