Minister Bhattarai bats for systematic and efficient education policy

Gandaki: Minister of Education, Science and Technology Bidya Bhattarai has said to solve the existing problems in the education sector, restructuring of the overall teaching and evaluation system is necessary.

Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Kaski in Pokhara on Sunday, she said that the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee has continued discussions on the formulation of the School Education Act.

Stating that until the Tribhuvan University is well reformed, hope cannot be instilled in the people towards a university.  She further opined that if there is no education act, policy and law, it will be difficult to run the state properly.

Noting that immediate and long-term priorities will be determined to solve the overall problems surfaced in the education sector, Minister Bhattarai informed that discussions are being held with various ministries with the aim of linking the school lunch programme with local products.

Minister asserted that the Ministry has moved forward to build the concept of a democratic state by organizing a system of punishing the guilty and acquitting the innocent.  She pointed out the need to review the curriculum of higher education.

Emphasizing that education should be led by policy as it is inevitable to connect with state education, she said that the recent SEE and class 12 exam results are not satisfactory and the sustainable examination system should be revised as soon as possible.
