Madhesh Chief Minister downsizes cabinet

All eight state ministers have been removed amid growing criticism over the expansion of the provincial Council of Ministers to 20 members.

Kathmandu: Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh dismissed all eight state ministers from their posts on Tuesday amid growing criticism over the expansion of the provincial Council of Ministers to 20 members.

The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers confirmed that the provincial head has been notified of the decision to reduce the size of the council.

This move is in line with an agreement reached among the central ruling parties.

Recently, on July 6, Chief Minister Singh appointed Rekha Thakur, Nilam Kumari Rajak, Rambabu Yadav, Shambhu Sah, and Mohammad Zaid Alam as state ministers. Earlier, Keshav Rai, Sharada Devi Thapa, and Ranju Kumari Mandal Khang had also been appointed as state ministers. Now, all eight have been relieved of their duties.
