Landslide blocks Prithivi Highway

Kathmandu: A landslide has shut down the Damauli-Dumre section of the Prithvi Highway in Vyas Municipality-12, Tanahun district, since Wednesday evening.

The landslide, which started about 50 meters above the road, has blocked both lanes entirely. Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Rai reported that cleanup efforts began at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, but the extensive nature of the landslide may cause significant delays in reopening the highway.

Motorists are being directed to alternative routes. Small and medium vehicles are advised to detour through Damauli, take the Talghare route, and reconnect to the highway via Ranigaun, or use the Ranigaun-Ghansikuwa route toward Dumre. Heavy vehicles are recommended to take the Dumre-Besisahar-Lamjung road to access Pokhara.
