Kathmandu: The District Administration Office (DAO) of Kathmandu has extended the curfew in the Tinkune area until 7 am on Saturday, following violent protests in Nepal’s capital.

The curfew, initially imposed from 4:25 p.m. to 10 pm on Friday, was extended due to escalating unrest caused by pro royalist groups engaging in vandalism, looting, and chaos, according to the DAO.

In an official statement, the DAO said, “After analyzing the situation and in continuation of the previous curfew order, a curfew has been issued under Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 2028, effective from 10 pm on Friday until 7am on Saturday. Within the specified boundaries of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, no one is permitted to move, gather, hold processions, demonstrations, meetings, or besiege any area.”
