Israel agrees to recruit 2,000 Nepali caregivers

Kathmandu: Israel has agreed to recruit additional 2,000 caretakers from Nepal.

In a meeting with newly-appointed Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari, Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Hanan Godder said Israel is willing to recruit additional number of Nepali workers as caregivers. 

According to Govinda Prasad Rijal, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, a total of 1,000 primary candidates and 1,000 candidates on the waiting list could be recruited under the new agreement.

Previously, the agreement allowed for 500 primary candidates and 300 on the waiting list to be hired as caregivers in Israel. The meeting also covered various aspects of the bilateral labor relations between the two countries, including the current selection process for aspiring caregivers.

Spokesperson Rijal mentioned that Minister Bhandari and Ambassador Godder also discussed the potential for Nepali workers to be employed in Israel’s agriculture and other sectors. Minister Bhandari expressed satisfaction with the labor relations between Nepal and Israel and urged the Israeli envoy to take further initiatives to locate Nepali national Bipin Joshi, who has been missing in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
