India’s HICDP in Nepal: School building handed to management committee in Baglung

Kathmandu: Indian Embassy in Nepal handed over the School Building of Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School, Baglung, built with Government of India’s financial assistance under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation,’ to School Management Committee on Monday. Amar Bahadur Thapa, Chief of District Coordination Committee, Baglung, Gandaki Thapa Adhikari, Chairman of Badigad Rural Municipality, Baglung and Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor of Embassy of India in Kathmandu jointly handed over the building to the committee amid a program attended by political representatives, government officials and social workers. “The project was taken up as a High Impact    Community Development Project (HICDP) and was implemented through District Coordination Committee, Baglung,” Indian embassy in Kathmandu said.

Established in 1958 as a primary school, Shree Bhimgithe Secondary School was upgraded to lower secondary school in 1968, which was further upgraded to Secondary level in 1988. The school, that offers classes from grade one to 12, has total of 700 students, 54 percent of them girls. “The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal in upliftment of its people by augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors,” Indian embassy said.
