Kathmandu: The government has recommended envoys to 18 countries, including India, the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. A meeting of the council of ministers held on Monday decided to recall five ambassadors while recommending 18 new envoys from the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML quotas.

The meeting decided to recall ambassadors from Australia, China, Sri Lanka, Russia, and South Africa. Those recalled are Bishnu Pukar Shrestha, the Nepali ambassador to China; Kailash Raj Pokharel from Australia; Milan Tuladhar from Russia; Vasudev Mishra from Sri Lanka; and Dan Bahadur Tamang from South Africa.

New ambassadors have been recommended for the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, Russia, Qatar, China, Denmark, Malaysia, Portugal, Pakistan, India, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Africa, Israel, Sri Lanka, Spain, and Germany. The government has decided to continue Shankar Sharma as the Nepali ambassador to India.

Former Chief Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi has been recommended for the United States, and former Secretary Chandra Ghimire for the United Kingdom. Similarly, CPN-UML Standing Committee member Shivamaya Tumbahangphe has been recommended for South Korea, and Netra Timilsina for Malaysia. Krishna Prasad Oli has been recommended for China, and Shail Rupakheti for Germany. Rita Dhital has been recommended for Pakistan, and Kapilman Shrestha for South Africa. Sanil Nepal has been recommended for Spain, and Naresh Bikram Dhakal for Saudi Arabia. Dhan Prasad Pandit has been recommended for Israel, and Prakash Mani Paudel for Portugal. Likewise, Kanta Rizal has been recommended for Australia.
