Collaboration between Lumbini Development Trust, local govt emphasized

Lumbini: The Lumbini Development Trust held an interaction program with the Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality for the protection, promotion, and exploration of Lumbini heritage, on Sunday.

During the interaction program, both sides stressed the development, protection, and promotion of archeological, religious, and cultural aspects of the birthplace of Lord Buddha with partnerships between the Trust and Municipality.

Treasurer of Trust Dhundiraj Bhattarai said that support of the local government, residents, and all stakeholders was required since the mere effort of the Trust was not enough for the development and protection of the Lumbini area.

Bhattarai argued that Lumbini should be developed as a must-visit site for Buddhist followers and peace lovers worldwide.

He urged the stakeholders and local government representatives to support the development of Lumbini as a ‘peace site’.

Deputy Mayor of Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality Kalpana Harijan said that Lumbini is an invaluable treasure of Nepal and an environment conducive should be created for better collaboration between the Trust and the Lumbini Sanskritik Municipality.
