Kathmandu: China has donated 100,000 US dollar (equivalent to around 13 million Nepali rupees) to disaster relief funds to help the government of Nepal provide relief assistance to those affected by devastating floods and landslides that occurred across the country on Saturday and Sunday claiming over 200 lives and destroying property and infrastructure worth billions of rupees. China has said that it will provide more assistance to the Nepalis affected by the disaster.
Chinese ambassador to Nepal Chen Song handed over the check to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by recent floods and landslides across Nepal,” Chen said. “Today the Red Cross Society of China donated 100,000 US dollars in disaster relief funds to Nepal Red Cross Society.”
Chinese ambassador also said that China will provide more assistance to the people affected by the disaster. “We sincerely hope that the people in the disaster-stricken areas will resume normal life as soon as possible. China and Nepal always stand together.”
