Khotang: Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality has launched a campaign to transform Majhuwagadhi into a ‘flower hill.’

Majhuwagadhi is a popular religious and tourist spot located on a hilltop that can be reached from Diktel Bazaar after a 45-minute hike. Diktel Bazaar, a well-known trade center in the district, is expected to boost foot traffic to Majhuwagadhi. Visitors must climb 918 steps to reach the historic fort at the top of Majhuwagadhi from Diktel Bazaar. The area belongs to Majh Kirat (mid Kirat), which has been gaining popularity as a tourist destination in recent years.

To facilitate visitor movement, the local government has also installed railings along the path to the hill. The route is a short trek, appealing to both locals and tourists.

Locals use the trail for calisthenics, aiming to improve their fitness. Recently, a 65-meter stretch of the trail has been enhanced with natural flowers on both sides, designated as the Majhuwagadhi trekking route.

The municipality has announced that it is developing this area to establish Majhuwagadhi as a ‘flower hill.’
