Alumni gathering held for Nepali Army officers trained in Pakistan Armed Forces

Kathmandu: Embassy of Pakistan organized second Alumni gathering for Nepali Army officers trained in various institutions of Pakistan Armed Forces on Thursday. General Gaurav SJB Rana, Former Chief of Army Staff Nepali Army, was the chief guest at the occasion. Air Chief Marshal (R) Sudarshana Pathirana, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal attended the event as a special guest being alumni of Pakistan Air Force Academy. A good number of serving and retired Nepali Army officers attended the event.

Col Muhammad Ali Alvi, Defence Attaché at Embassy of Pakistan traced history and highlighted the vibrant bilateral relations between the Armed Forces of Nepal and Pakistan, especially in training domain. He underscored continued support by Pakistan Armed Forces for capacity building of Nepali Army.

General Gaurav SJB Rana recalled experiences of his stint in Pakistan and their relevance to his own rise in leading Nepali Army. He said that training of Nepali Army officers, soldiers and capacity building of Nepal Army has tremendous value for the institution and individuals. Maj Gen Babu Ram Shrestha, senior most serving Nepal Army officer and alumni of NDU Islamabad, conveyed best greetings on behalf of Nepal Army. He thanked Pakistan for providing opportunities to Nepal Army officers/ soldiers both in acquiring contemporary skills and filling gaps in capacity of the Army.

Ambassador Abrar H Hashmi said that Pakistan and Nepal have strong relations based on trust and mutually beneficial collaborations between the people, governments and armed forces.
