Sudurpaschim CM Dirgha Sodhari wins trust vote as opposition parties boycott meeting

The lawmakers from the Nepali Congress and the Resham Chaudhary faction of the Nagarik Unmukti Party boycotted the meeting.

Kathmandu: Sudurpaschim Chief Minister Dirgha Sodhari secured a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly meeting.

Of the 28 lawmakers present at the meeting, all voted in favor of Sodhari.

The opposition parties of the Sudurpaschim government boycotted the meeting as Speaker Bhim Bhandari proceeded with the confidence motion despite protests regarding the constitutionality of the chief minister’s appointment.

Sodhari was appointed as the CM on April 18, as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution.

Sodhari was supported by 11 lawmakers from CPN-UML, four from CPN (Unified Socialist), two from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, and one independent lawmaker.

The lawmakers from the Nepali Congress and the Resham Chaudhary faction of the Nagarik Unmukti Party boycotted the meeting.
