Dr Anjan Shakya nominated to National Assembly 

Shakya, who is also a member of the UML foreign department, is a former ambassador to Israel and a former National Planning Commission member. 

Kathmandu: Dr Anjan Shakya has been nominated as a member of the National Assembly, the upper house of parliament.

President Ramchandra Paudel nominated Shakya  as  NA member on Thursday based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, as stated by the Office of the President.

The Cabinet meeting on April 12 recommended Shakya for a seat in the NA.

President Paudel has nominated Shakya as a member of the National Assembly in accordance with Clause (2) of Article 86 of the Constitution of Nepal, read the statement issued by the Office of the President.

In the 59-member National Assembly, three members are nominated by the President based on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

Shakya, who is also a member of the UML foreign department, is a former ambassador to Israel and a former National Planning Commission member.
