Kathmandu: National Unity Campaign has said that all-out efforts should be made, from all stakeholders, to ensure immediate release of Bipin Joshi, held captive by Hamas in 2023, and his safe return to Nepal. In an interaction program organized by the Campaign in the capital on Friday, speakers raised question over lack of adequate efforts by the government for the release of Joshi.
Senior advocate Dr Dinesh Tripathi criticized the government for its weak diplomacy. “The government has not been able to give clear details regarding the whereabouts of Bipin Joshi,” he said. “This is crime against humanity. Nepal needs to launch international signature campaign to increase global pressure for Joshi’s release.”

Speakers expressed the concern that Bipin Joshi’s name was missing in the list of captives recently made public by Hamas.
Binaya Yadav, the president of National Unity Campaign, said that the country needs to start a collective campaign for Bipin Joshi’s release. “This case is not just about Bipin. It is a collective voice against terrorism. Lasting peace will follow only after the Hamas surrender,” he said. Yadav said that he will continue to raise voice for Bipin until Bipin’s release.
The whereabouts of Bipin Joshi, kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel, remain unknown, even though the first phase of Gaza peace deal between Israel and Hamas has been reportedly ratified.
