PM Oli briefs Parliament about his China visit starting Saturday

Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday briefed the House of Representatives about his China visit scheduled from August 30. PM Oli is leaving for China to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit taking place at Tianjin city of China. In the meeting of the House of Representative, PM Oli shared that this visit would help further strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and China as well as friendly relations between the two countries. He expressed the belief that his presentation about Nepal’s concept and priorities on contemporary issues in SCO Summit would boost Nepal’s image and prestige in the international forum.

Prime Minister Oli, leading a Nepali delegation at cordial invitation of President of China, Xi Jinping, is embarking on a five-day China visit from August 30-Sept 3. He clarified that the Nepal would focus this visit would on achieving maximum advantages by clearly highlighting its perception and priorities on contemporary regional and international affairs by enhancing country’s participation level in the SCO. Nepal is a dialogue partner of the SCO since 2016. During the visit, Prime Minister Oli will hold bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi as well as will meet Vice-President of China, Han Zheng. The Nepali delegation would attend the dinner hosted separately by the Chinese President and Vice-President. During the HoR meeting, PM Oli informed that he would address the ‘SCO Plus’ Summit on September 1.

PM Oli is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with heads of the state and government of different countries. He briefed the HoR meeting that the meeting with President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, President of Maldives, Dr Mohamed Muizzu, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Dr Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Sonexay Siphandone, and Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, has already been set so far.
