Emir of Qatar arrives in Kathmandu

Kathmandu: Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday for a two-day state visit to Nepal.

A guard of honor was accorded by a consignment of the Nepal Army at the Tribhuvan International Airport. 

In honor of the Emir of Qatar, welcome gates and banners have been placed along major roads and intersections in Kathmandu. 

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Emir will first meet with President Paudel at the President’s Office. Later, both leaders will proceed to Hotel Soaltee for a state banquet hosted by the President in his honor. 

On Wednesday, the Emir will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Following the talks, both leaders will sign bilateral agreements and memorandums of understanding, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 

The visit of the Emir of Qatar is the first high-level visit to Nepal from the Gulf nation. 

According to the labor department, a total of 400,000 Nepali migrant workers are currently working in Qatar.
