Terrorist attack in Jammu Kashmir: Nepal condemns, stands with India

Kathmandu: Nepal has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday which has claimed more than two dozen of lives of tourists, including a Nepali national. “Nepal unequivocally condemns the barbaric terrorist attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir,” the Foreign Ministry of Nepal said Wednesday morning. “Nepal stands in steadfast solidarity with the Government and people of India in this time of sorrow. In line with our firm and principled position, Nepal condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and believes that such heinous acts of terrorism cannot and should not be justified on any ground,” the Ministry said.

Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has extended condolences to the victims of the terrorist attack and said that Nepal stands with India. Nepal stands firmly with India and strongly condemns any and all acts of terrorism, PM Oli wrote on X, adding that close coordination is established to verify reports of a Nepali national among the victims.

World leaders, from US president Donald Trump to Russian president Vladimir Putin to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer among others, have condemned the attack.

The terrorist attack of Tuesday has been described as the second deadliest attack in Kashmir since Pulwama strike in 2019.
