Former President Bhandari pays tribute to martyrs

Kathmandu: Former President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has paid tribute to the martyrs who scarified their lives for the establishment of democracy in the country.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) today marking the Martyrs Day, Bhandari honoured the enduring contributions of known and unknown martyrs including Sukraraj Shastri, Dasarath Chand, Gangalal Shrestha and Dharma Bhakta Mathema who scarified their lives to end the autocratic Rana regime.

The former Head of the State wrote, “I am confident that the Martyrs Day would inspire the leadership of all political parties and civil societies to honour the contributions and sacrifices of the martyrs.”

She also expressed her belief that the Day would encourage everyone to work towards nation-building thereby contributing to fulfill the martyrs’ dreams.
