Kathmandu: British ambassador to Nepal Rob Fenn on Wednesday informed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli about proposed visit of the Duke and the Duchess of Edinburgh to Nepal. The visit by the British royals to Nepal is supposed to take place in February, according to reports.

“Ambassador Rob Fenn briefed the PM on the visit of the Duke and the Duchess of Edinburgh. They also discussed various aspects of our important bilateral relations,” the British embassy in Kathmandu posted on X.

Duchess Sophie and Prince Edward from the British Royal family will visit Nepal next month, kicking off their first international tour of 2025, The Himalayan Times reported last week. Edward and Sophie will visit India on February 2, as chairman of the DofE’s International Award Foundation, following which they will arrive in Kathmandu for a five-day visit to Nepal on February 4, the newspaper reported.

Their visit to Nepal, with which the UK shares the oldest diplomatic relations, will be the second high level visit from the British royal family in nine years.  Prince Harry had visited Nepal in 2016.
