Kathmandu: Government of Nepal has welcomed the announcement of ceasefire in Gaza. Issuing a statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said “We welcome the recent announcement of the ‘Agreement for the Release of Hostages and Ceasefire in Gaza.”

The government of Israel has approved the new Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal with Hamas, BBC reported.

The deal was mediated by Qatar, Egypt and the United States, according to international news reports.

“We hope that [the deal] will usher the parties concerned towards the path of lasting peace and stability while ensuring uninterrupted supply of humanitarian assistance to the people in Gaza,” Nepal’s Foreign Ministry said. “Government of Nepal has consistently urged for the release of all hostages including Mr. Bipin Joshi, a Nepali citizen.”

Nepal government had strongly condemned “the terrorist attack in Israel” on October 7, 2023.
