Kathmandu: Renowned Nepali wildlife photographer Chungba Sherpa has passed away.
The 64-year-old photographer had been receiving treatment for a liver-related ailment since last week, and was put under ventilator treatment.
He died at 12.15 am today while under treatment at a local Grande Hospital, informed Phunuru Sherpa, the ward chair of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1.
A permanent resident of Lukla, Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-1 in Solukhumbu district, Chungba was also a long time associated with the Nepali Congress party.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters.
He served as the Nepali Congress’ Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality president and the Chairperson of the then Chaurikharka Village Development Committee.
He was also into the tourism business and was active in wildlife photography for some years. He was also affiliated with various national and international photography-related organizations.
