Indian embassy hands over new buildings to Myagdi Multiple Campus

New buildings were constructed with Indian grants under High Impact Community Development Project.

Kathmandu: The Campus and Hostel Buildings of Myagdi Multiple Campus, Myagdi built with Government of India’s financial assistance at the project cost of NRs 27.93 million under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ was handed over to Campus Management Committee on Monday. Raj Kumar Thapa, Chief, District Coordination Committee of Myagdi and Avinash Kumar Singh, Counsellor at Embassy of India, Kathmandu handed over the new buildings to the Campus in an event participated in by political representatives, government officials and social workers.

The Government of India’s grant under ‘Nepal-India Development Cooperation’ was utilized for the construction of Campus buildings including Humanities block, Management block, Girls’ hostel block and other allied facilities, the Indian embassy in Kathmandu said. The project was taken up as a High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) and was implemented through District Coordination Committee, Myagdi.  The new infrastructure will help provide access to higher education and hostel facilities to the students of Myagdi Multiple Campus.

Established in 1996, Myagdi Multiple Campus, with around 950 students, 70 percent of them girls, is a community-based institution that offers Bachelor and Master level courses. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in bolstering the efforts of the Government of Nepal in upliftment of its people by augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors, the embassy said.
