India allows Nepal to import 2,00,000 tons of wheat

Kathmandu: The government of India has allowed Nepal to import 2,00,000 tons of wheat through the National Cooperative Exports Limited, Dr Shankar Sharma, Ambassador of Nepal to India said on Sunday. “India has otherwise banned wheat exports. On our side, Nepal has not been able to meet the demand with its domestic production of wheat,” Sharma wrote.

Director General of Foreign Trade of India issued a notice to this effect on Saturday. India, in May, 2022, had announced ban on wheat export after adverse weather conditions impacted wheat production in the country.
