Kathmandu: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has praised the role Jimmy Carter played for peace and democracy. While signing the condolence book at the US embassy in Kathmandu to pay tribute to former US President and Nobel Laureate Jimmy Carter, who passed away earlier this week, the foreign minister said Carter stood as an exemplary figure in philanthropy, peace and democracy. “His contributions were widely admired for their lasting impact on upholding human rights and democratic values,” she said. “He was a true friend and well-wisher of Nepal. His legacy of peace and benevolence will forever be cherished and will continue to serve as an inspiration to the people around the world.”

Carter, who was the 39th president of the US, passed away on Sunday. He was 100.
