Joint taskforce formed to utilize river-based materials

Lumbini: A joint recommendation taskforce has been formed to resolve the issues that evolved in the utilization and conservation of resources of the Karnali River between the Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The task force was formed under the coordination of the secretary of the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Lumbini Province after a joint dialogue between the Chief Ministers of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces on the issue of utilization and conservation of river-related resources of the Karnali River on Wednesday.

The taskforce comprises secretaries of the Sudurpaschim province government, representatives of the Forest Ministries of both the provinces, local governments connected to the river basin areas, national parks and survey office, among others.

The committee will identify the problems associated with the three tiers of government and make recommendations by determining priorities with alternatives for resolving them.
