Kathmandu: Shilshila Acharya of Nepal has been listed by the BCC as one of the 100 inspiring and influential women of 2024. BBC made the list public on Tuesday.

Acharya, Scientist, Sustainability Practitioner and Entrepreneur from Nepal, runs Avni Center for Sustainability (ACS), a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to achieving sustainability.

“Shilshila Acharya runs one of the largest plastic recycling networks in Nepal. Her waste management business Avni Ventures employs staff from marginalised communities and focuses on getting more women into the green sector,” BBC wrote about her. “The climate and waste educator is also behind a big annual clean-up in the Himalayas to remove rubbish left by mountaineers, collecting 119 tonnes since 2019.”
