Rojina Shrestha of RSP wins Kathmandu-16 by-elections

Kathmadu: Rojina Shrestha of the Rastriya Swatantra Party has been elected ward chair of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, securing 2,902 votes.

Her nearest rival Laxmiratna Tuladhar of the UML got 2,220 votes, while Congress candidate Devendra Pathak garnered 2,214 votes. Unified Socialist’s Min Bahadur Manandhar received 1,092 votes, and Shyam Krishna Shrestha of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party secured 774 votes.

A total of 10,558 votes were cast, with 180 declared invalid. The by-election was held following the death of Mukunda Rijal, elected ward chair in 2022 with 4,018 votes from Congress.
