“Prahelika” released in English as “Her Innocence Discovered”

United States: The acclaimed Nepali novel Prahelika by J.N. Dahal has recently been translated into English and published as Her Innocence Discovered. The original work, which received the HimTika Fiction Award at a convention in Canada organized by the Literature Council of Bhutan, has now reached an international audience through a translation by Dr. Bal Ram Adhikari, Ph.D., a lecturer at Tribhuvan University in Nepal.

The story follows Anushka, a young Asian woman on her honeymoon, as she grapples with connecting emotionally and physically with her husband, Miles. This journey of self-discovery leads her to confront her asexuality and its implications on her identity. Alongside Anushka’s story is that of Sharma, whose struggles with gender discrimination provide a profound counterpoint, offering insights into the psychological complexities of identity, relationships, and personal growth.

J.N. Dahal is an esteemed writer known for his short stories, essays, and travelogues. His anthology, Lekhak Ki Chhori (The Writer’s Daughter), won the INLS Best Diaspora Book Award in 2022, further establishing his reputation in the literary world. Translator Dr. Adhikari has sought to retain the cultural and emotional depth of the original text, making it accessible to a broader audience while preserving its authentic Nepali essence.

Her Innocence Discovered is now available in eBook, paperback, and hardcover formats on major platforms, including Amazon, Booktopia, Bokus, and Barnes & Noble.
