Man arrested on charge of killing 14-year-old girl in Dadeldhura made public

Dadeldhura: A man arrested on the charge of his involvement in the killing of a 14-year-old girl was presented to media on Sunday.

The body of Arati Bhattarai, 14, was found in the Pokhara Bazar of Dadeldhura on Saturday and the accused in the murder has been identified as local stationery supplier Tek Bahadur Bhandari, 58.

The Dadeldhura District Police Office made him public through a press meet yesterday. Dadeldhura’s Police Chief and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sugandh Shrestha, said the accused has admitted that he strangled the girl from the Amargadhi Municipality-7 to death.

The incident happened within the stationery store. The locals have suspected the rape and murder of the girl, demanding stern action against Bhandari.

Police have been waiting for the post-mortem examination report of the girl to proceed with further investigations. However, it has been preliminary predicted that Bhandari killed the girl after she tried to resist his rape attempt. The girl reportedly left her home at 4:00 pm on October 11 for a rice mill near the Pokhara Bazar.
