Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress has contributed Rs 5 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to assist victims of recent floods, landslides, and inundation.
The donation follows a decision made by the party’s Central Working Committee and the Parliamentary Party.
On Sunday, party chair Sher Bahadur Deuba, along with senior leaders including Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka and General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma, handed over a cheque for Rs 5 million to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
During the handover, Deuba, also a former prime minister, presented a 34-point suggestion paper to Prime Minister Oli, outlining both immediate and long-term measures to address the aftermath of natural disasters.
Prime Minister Oli welcomed the suggestions, describing them as constructive.
The Nepali Congress, in its statement, urged the government to tackle the disaster response with unity and solidarity, while highlighting the importance of preparedness for future calamities.
