Kathmandu: Prakash Man Singh Raut has been appointed as Chief Justice.

President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Raut as Chief Justice following his endorsement by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee of the House of Representatives.

President Paudel will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed Chief Justice at Sheetal Niwas, the President’s residence at 1 Pm today.

Raut succeeds former Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, who retired on October 4. The Constitutional Council had recommended Raut’s appointment on September 15.

Raut will serve as Chief Justice for a term of one and a half years.
