Jivesh Jha’s book on Chhath to be published soon

The aim to bring out this book is so that more people would come to know about the cultural, religious, social and environmental significance of Chhath in Nepal and India, Jivesh Jha said.

Kathmandu: Beneath the Sun: Equality for Everyone: The Spirit of Chhath Festival is going to be published soon.  The book discusses the Chhath festival and its multidimensional significance for the environment, society, and humanity. The book features insights (foreword) from Dhirendra Premarshi and Dr Anil Dixit who shed light on its content.

This is the first book to exclusively deal with Chhath, the author said.

Jha is a famed columnist writing in various media outlets on issues ranging from constitutionalism, Madhesh politics and culture and festivals of Madhesh.  He has penned a number of articles in newspapers as well as journals about legal as well as constitutional issues from Nepal, India and beyond in South Asia.

“The print copies of the book will be out in the market in a couple of days,” said Jivesh Jha. “The aim to bring out this book is so that more people would come to know about the cultural, religious, social and environmental significance of Chhath, the festival that is celebrated in Nepal’s Tarai as well as several parts of India,” he said. “We need to know the values and significance of the festivals like Chhath.”
