Flooding claims 34 lives in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu: The flooding caused by the torrential rain that has been happening since Thursday night has claimed 34 lives so far in the Kathmandu Valley. 

According to the police, 18 persons died in Lalitpur, 11 in Kathmandu, and five others in Bhaktapur district.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Binod Ghimire, said 17 persons were missing in the disaster while 17 others sustained injuries.

Likewise, a total of 1,315 individuals were rescued from the flooding and inundation. 

Four houses collapsed in Kathmandu and one was damaged in Bhaktapur after the mudslide caused from the heavy rain.

Similarly, altogether 2,241 houses were inundated in the valley including 1,324 in Kathmandu, 500 in Lalitpur, and 417 in Bhaktapur district, SSP Ghimire said.
