Kathmandu: Genese Solution – a UK-based IT consulting company – hosted a seminar, in partnership with Zoom- a global leader in virtual communication and collaboration technology – on modernizing the workplace focusing on the future of work, collaboration, and innovation. The event brought together leaders from different industry segments, professionals, and tech enthusiasts to discuss the growing trend in adopting technology to make workplaces smarter and virtual collaboration effective while ensuring operational efficiency.
The event kicked off with an exclusive preview of Zoom’s recently introduced features and innovations. Ms. Swati Agarwal, Sales lead at Zoom for the mid-market segment, shared stories from across industries about how Zoom is enabling teams to work together efficiently from anywhere with features like advanced video conferencing, virtual whiteboards, inbuilt AI technology, and integration with productivity apps. The participants were treated to an immersive virtual demo session led by the product experts from Zoom showcasing Zoom’s enhanced capabilities, including a hands-on demonstration of Workvivo, a dynamic tool aimed at enhancing employee engagement, the integration of AI, next-generation contact centre solution MultiCaas, and the run-through with real-life work scenarios.
The key highlight of the event was the Fireside Chat, where some of the organisations from different industry segments in Nepal shared their experience of adapting virtual collaboration tools, especially Zoom. Er. Rabindra Shrestha, Deputy Director at Nepal Insurance Authority, the regulatory body of insurance agencies in Nepal, was jubilant in sharing the revolution Zoom has brought into developing, training, and certifying insurance agents. One of the stats presented to the audience highlighted the operational efficiency of virtual collaboration. Shrestha mentioned that the Authority had been able to develop 300,000 agents in 50 years of establishment, while with the integration of Zoom in their operation last year they have already developed and certified 50,000 agents in just 10 months; certifying up to 10,000 agents in a single month.
Anit Jung Pandey, Chief Financial Officer at NIC Asia Laghubitta, mentioned how the introduction of Zoom has made it effortless to connect all branches in 74 districts across Nepal for all kinds of engagements, from regular meetings to training, and at short notice. He emphasized that virtual collaboration with Zoom has practically eradicated the need for primary stakeholders to travel to Kathmandu and hold engagements in person, saving time, cost, and logistical hassles; shareholders enjoy connecting with the executive leaders from the comfort of their own office.
Subin Adhikari, Program Communication Officer of the Leprosy Mission Nepal, highlighted the importance of staying on stand-by to support hundreds of field workers across Nepal and the convenience Zoom had brought into their team to be hands-on with the local scenario through video calls. While collaborating with highly sensitive stakeholders such as hospitals and healthcare experts, he emphasized the importance of demonstrating confidence and applicability of high-quality video conferencing technology of Zoom.
Prakriya Lama, a seasoned HR professional leading the workforce management at Midas Technology, shared interesting insights about managing diverse human resources striking the balance between the conventional workforce with limited exposure to technology and the highly technology-savvy modern workforce. She also highlighted the importance of tools like Zoom and the convenience it offers at the workplace, allowing the seamless integration of a variety of virtual collaboration tools from other vendors such as Microsoft, Google, Atlassian, Zoho, and others saving from the hassle of familiarising with all tools separately.
Addressing the event virtually from London over Zoom, founder and CEO of Genese Solution, Anjani Phuyal, said, ”Zoom as one of the world’s most visionary companies and acknowledging Nepal as a growing market with great potential was a big achievement.
