September 11 terror attack:  We will never forget, says the US

‘In the years since September 11, the United States has remained resolute in defending the homeland, protecting our people, and supporting our allies in this crucial mission.’

Kathmandu: While marking the 23rd anniversary of September 11, 2001, when nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost in a heartbreaking act of terror against America, the US embassy in Kathmandu said that they remember the profound impact of that day. “We honor the memory of the lives lost and reflect on the bravery and resilience of our first responders and the everyday heroes who came to the assistance of their neighbors, the heroes who helped their work colleagues, and the heroes who stepped up to rescue complete strangers,” the embassy said on Wednesday. “As we commemorate this anniversary, we also reaffirm our commitment to unity and compassion in the face of adversity.”

The US Department of State on Wednesday paid tribute to the first responders who risked and sacrificed their lives to rescue others.     “Today, on Patriot Day 2024, we honor their memories and stand in solidarity with the families and friends of those who perished in New York City, Arlington, Virginia and Shanksville, Pennsylvania,” the statement issued by Department of State said. “We also remember our colleagues who were killed in Benghazi, Libya, on this day in 2012.  Their bravery and dedication continues to inspire us and serves as a reminder of the resilience and sacrifice that define our mission.”  Department of State further stated: “On this Patriot Day observance, we are reminded of the enduring strength of the American people.  This resilience drives our ongoing fight against terrorism.  In the years since September 11, the United States has remained resolute in defending the homeland, protecting our people, and supporting our allies in this crucial mission.”
