Five-bed municipal hospital set up in Jalpa, Khotang

Khotang: A five-bed municipal hospital named ‘Janasewa Municipal Hospital’ has been established in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-12, Jalpa. The hospital has commenced providing services under the supervision of specialist doctors.

Chairperson Dan Bahadur Rai of Ward-12 informed that the 15-bed Janasewa Community Hospital, previously operated by Janasewa Society Nepal Jalpa, has now been converted into a municipal hospital. It is noteworthy that locals initiated the establishment of the community hospital 12 years ago through donations and voluntary labor.

Dhruba Shrestha, chairperson of the hospital management committee, stated that the physical infrastructure, built on 4.1 ropani of land belonging to the Janasewa Community Hospital, along with equipment, has been handed over to the municipality.

Efforts have been made to integrate the services of health posts operating in Jalpa into the municipal hospital’s offerings. Service delivery at the municipal hospital commenced last Wednesday following the handover of physical infrastructure and equipment valued at Rs 35 million.

An agreement, in the form of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), was signed between the municipality and Janasewa Community Hospital Jalpa for the establishment and operation of the municipal hospital.
