Kathmandu: At least 14 people have been killed after a passenger bus plunged into the Marsyangdi River in Tanahun district on Friday. 

The accident occurred at Aaina Pahara, located in Anbu Khaireni-2 of Tanahun district, when an Indian bus with registration number UP 53 FT 7623, veered off the road and tumbled into the river below.

The bus, en route from Pokhara to Kathmandu, was carrying 41 passengers at the time of the accident. 

According to police, many of the victims were trapped inside the submerged vehicle. Police fear that the death toll may rise, as several passengers are still unaccounted for.
